Camellia Sinensis
Camellia Sinensis has three stores around the province of Quebec. The owners go around the world collecting the best samples of tea there is and sell it in each of their stores. They also own an online store which gives them the possibility to sale their tea all across the globe.
Their vision
They expanded their e-commerce horizon to the point where selling teapots, books and tea accessories sounded realistic. Unfortunately their current website didn't give them the flexibility to have those categories of items on their store and sell them to their clients. Once these types of items were added, they wanted to have a direct quote from Canada Post with the exact shipping amount it would cost for the client instead of having flat shipping and handling fees which gives the client an even more competitive price.
Also, the website had some displaying issues that needed to be resolved to make the e-commerce experience much smoother for their clients.
Our solution
First, we had to isolate and reproduce the bugs since these items are always critical things to fix. Once that was done and all fixed we moved on into modifying the existing system to make it easier to add any kind of category which would make it cheaper for Camellia Sinensis to add another category of items later along the road. When we finalized the categories we redesigned the menus to make it more user friendly and easier to navigate through the site.
Afterwards we moved onto the Canada Post part of the project and modified the system to make it compliant with Canada Post's standards. We discussed with them on the phone and with Revenue Quebec to get more information about taxation and shipping and handling accuracy.
