LiquidForce Kites
Liquid Force Kites is the most avant-garde Kite boarding company out there. They distribute a multitude of gear including kites, wakeboards and harnesses all over the globe. They saw our work and approached us with the idea of changing their site from static to semi-static which will make it much easier to manage over the years.
Their vision
Since their gear change every year, they have to think about a new site design on a yearly basis to keep in touch with the riders. They also wanted to get retailers, learning centers, international riders and regional riders more involved in the site to make it more appealing for newcomers.
They also wanted the ability to have RSS feeds from all the type of news that other site could use at their own discretion.
Search engine optimization was also at the top of their list along with friendly URLs that are easy to remember and that doesn't look like gibberish to the buyer who is accession the site.
Our solution
We decided that since the site's look and gear only changes once per year, that part of the site should remain static. This dramatically reduced the cost of the whole project.
We also implemented our CMS into their site to make it easier for them to manage the news, galleries and videos that were being published on the site. They also have different type of users, which mean that an admin can approve the news that the riders, dealers or learning center make which makes it less likely that SPAM or offensive content will appear on the site without the knowing of an administrator.
Every page on the site was designed with Search Engine Optimization in mind. The friendly URLs, meta-data and breadcrumb are available on every single page that is on the site.
A last little touch was the addition of a JQuery module that makes it possible to do an image fading transition, sans-flash, available on the front page.
